Firstly, i want to thank Jari (http://www.kwiksher.com/work/goldilocks-and-three-bears-interactive-storybook-hd) for referring some free tools on the Mac to reduce PNG file size. Please visit: http://pngmini.com/ to download ImageAlpha and ImageOptim. We shrunk our app size from 56MB to 34MB. If you have other tools to recommend, please share here. Ben

Hi Ben,you can shrink the audio files - by reducing the bit-rate to 96kbps - the quality is more than enough...Another thing is - if you are working on a page for a while - adding and deleting assets  - when you done exporting - go and check your project folder and make sure you don't have some left-over assets, meaning sometimes kwik(or any other fault) result in unused images in the folder which will help you shrink some more kb/mb off your project...If i'll come a cross some more tips i'll post it here.Moshe.

I am a PC user and I use the “Export for web or device” option within Photoshop CS5. I think it's enough. For audio files, I use a free software called “Mobile Media Converter” to convert them into smaller bit-rate.I'm more than welcome if you guys know better tools 😀

I'll try it and see how much MB more i can save...Ben.

I used both image optimum and image alpha….For png files image alpha crunches them wayyyy way more.  But, you have to do them one at a time... which I did to all 2000 images I had.  But, it took my project from 150MB of images to 46mb of images!Image optimum batches them and it is way quicker and can do jpg's too.

Seems like reducing your audio file size is very important in the Kindle Fire to reduce page transition, especially when you're implementing audio to text sync....Ben.

Getting rid of unused images files is easy. Just trash everything in your images folder and re-export the entire project. Only images that are still part of your project will be exported.

I know I posted this link under Alex's thread, but this is a free automated tool for imagealpha, which reduced my build folder from 1.8gb to 121 mbhttps://github.com/hamdullahshah/Automator-App-for-PngQuantworks visibly better than Photoshop Save for Web

http://imageoptim.com is easier to use, at least for me. It will cut a background image by about half.  You can run the program more than once to make the png even smaller.

Before using the external tools you mentioned, I suggest your to give the new Compress PNG feature a try. It uses the same engine that powers imageoptim and Automator. After doing that, try the external tools to see if they create even smaller images then the native feature.

Before you use the internal tool, “Rasterize Layer Styles” otherwise you will get some unexpected clipping. BTW I am a big fan of the integrated pngquant. Little things like this are what make Kwik such a great tools.

I've got a weird Mac thing going on when I try to use the Kwik compressor. It errors out telling me I don't have authority for using the console, even when I reset it from Admin to user. Weird thing is I can pull up the console as user and enter commands in it which it then executes and it works fine to give me error messages in my builds. Did I miss a step in the install of the compress mod?

Karen, you are probably using Corona Terminal, instead of the Mac Terminal. 2 different things. Close Corona Terminal and search/open the Terminal app.
