Interview with LogiTales

In the past, we used to interview all the authors, when they published their Kwik made apps. With more and more apps getting into the stores, this practice became impossible to be done, reason why we decided to create our Showcase to, at least, highlight everybody’s work. We are happy to announce that we will interview App of the Month winners, as well as authors with distinguished works or services. Hopefully these interviews will inspire others to follow their lead while creating great content. Today we talk to Nuriza, from LogiTales. She is the author of “Zala and the Treasure Cave”, my “current favorite” storybook made with Kwik 🙂   Tell us a little bit about you and LogiTales. Where are you based and what…

Near Humanity – a project you should know about. Interview with Xavier Bottet

Few months ago, Xavier invited me for a private session of a project he was planning to start. The moment I saw the first images I got sold. This is going to be big, I thought. Now it is time to share it with more people. In fact, more than just know about the project, you can help it to be produced. Take a cup/glass of your favorite drink and enjoy the interview. UPDATE 5/8/13: An intro app for the saga is already available for iPad. Check that at: https://itunes.apple.com/ca/app/nearhumanitynews/id643325144?mt=8 If you are willing to help, check the official page at http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/near-humanity-the-motion-comics   Tell us a little bit about yourself and your background I come from an industrial design background, but since my youth, movies, novels and…

Floating Fun by Greg Pugh is the first Storybook Created using Kwik 2

Please welcome Greg Pugh, author of The Perfect Pillow (also made with Kwik) and a Kwik 2 alpha tester. His new storybook, Floating Fun, was made entirely using Kwik 2. This creative storybook app is currently waiting for approval in both Amazon and Apple’s App Stores – we will have links to share as soon as they are available. Learn more about Floating Fun and Greg’s journey as an author, illustrator and Kwik user. Enjoy! My name is Greg Pugh, I’m the creator of the Colin Turtle book series. My interest in children’s book writing came from the fact that my wife and I knew we wanted to start a family, and I thought it would be great if our kids could grow up reading…

New Kwik Showcase ‘The Snow Queen’ and the Kwik Showcase Submission Form…

We’ve added a new app to the Kwik Showcase, The Snow Queen. This gorgeous app, which is based on the classic fairytale by Hans Christian Anderson, was developed by Sunshine Musicals. This musical storybook adventure comes to life with 5 original, fully orchestral, kid-friendly, songs performed by professional singers and includes sing-a-long text so that you and your child can join in the fun! Beyond the terrific songs, the storybook includes beautiful animated illustrations throughout – ladies and gentlemen, this is yet another “Kwik made” app done right! Congratulations to you Laura for the excellent app you created ! I highly recommend that everyone, young and old, buy this app today – it is available on the App Store, Google Play and Amazon Appstore. Wait, did someone say “Win…

Interview with Miss Pivot

Today I like to share my chat with the Miss Pivot team, creators of Fire Cupid, an amazing app made partially with Kwik. Enjoy! How did Kwik help you to build it? Any favorite features? We needed a way to build animations / interactions in to our infographics. Since we design everything in Photoshop, it was really nice to animate everything from there. Our favorite feature ending up being the built in animation effects. We found the animations and interactions to work the same on both iPad and Android devices. Any trick/tip you would like to share? I found that sometimes things don’t work they way you think they will. But don’t give up, try another approach and you will find that Kwik has many…

Interview with Ed Dalbello

This week my chat is with Ed, from JuluMedia, designer of “The Bunny with a crooked ear” and “The Star that felt from heaven”. I believe Ed is also the first Kwik user to use the multi-language feature! Congratulations Ed for making two apps almost simultaneously! Tell a little bit about you and your company? JuluMedia.com is actually a merge of two passions. The first is a passion for my two daughters, Julie and Louise (JuLu), for which I made several stories for them when they were little. The second is a desire to help children and work with compassion ministry. I work as volunteer for a great US Christian organization in Argentina helping needy children to have a better education. Consequently I have written…

Interview with Benjamin Chong

The Dream, World Explorer Edition, by Swipea, is, in my opinion, one of the best storybooks made with Kwik till now. What the team did (besides the great story and beautiful illustrations) for activities in the Happy Bazaar, was simply amazing (honestly, I have no idea how they make some of the activities without coding )! Ben was kind enough to share some of his experiences building the app with us. Enjoy! Tell a little bit about you and your company? Gamebit Labs is a new startup developing mobile apps, specifically children apps and ‘games’. We’re a small team of two but with earth size ambitions. There’s me, Ben the founder and my illustrator, Hau. We’re based in Malaysia and we started actual operations in…

Interview with Alan Chait

This week I talked to Alan, from Bassettapps, creator of Fun with Flags, another app made with Kwik. Tell a little bit about you and your company? Bassettapps.com is a one person company – just me. I wanted to learn how to write apps for mobile devices after my son paid over $7,000 to have a simple app made (and it didn’t work very well). I’m in the printing business and not a programmer but I have limited experience in database programming and HTML/CSS which I enjoy very much. To learn how to develop apps, in my limited spare time I started to read books and watch videos about creating mobile apps. It was like learning a foreign language. Objective-C was getting more and more…
