About version 1.2

We are busy here finishing to code a few more features and polishing some of the current ones, before to make v1.2 available. As always, we are listening your comments, suggestions and concerns, and taking them in consideration in feature prioritization. However, not all requests will be available in the next update. So, I would like to ask you a little of patience if your favorite feature/request is not listed below. Before I mention what is coming, I would like to share a quick anecdote with you all. Yesterday we had a customer not happy with the way we handle layer names and his comment was “In Flash, if I…

What is coming? A brief roadmap.

As promised, we would like to share with you our plans for future releases. We have received (and hope to keep receiving) lots of feature suggestions and, being a small team yet, we need to make the right choices. Clearly we have two main groups of users, with different needs and requests .Internally we call them designers and coders. Designers want more control on animations and interactions.  Their requests are, in general, related to more animation types, new page transitions and audio controls. Most of them are using Kwik to create interactive books or magazines. Coders, generally non-professional developers or designers with development experience, want more features, variable and logic…

New horizons for designers and illustrators

Less than 3 weeks ago we launched a revolutionary plugin for Photoshop. With Kwik, creative users can create animated comics and interactive books direct from their comps. Yesterday, we announced v1.1 with features that bring even more possibilities to our users. In fact, most of the new features come from direct feedback from our yet small but passionate community of users. The list includes: Audio: Any kind of button can have optional audio attached to. For example, Go To Page buttons can play a “click” sound before going to other pages. Even more important, Page Audio offers now controls for looping and delay. This is a feature requested from several…

Best practices on Kwik

Some users have asked us the best practices on improve their productivity with Kwik. Although the plugin is really easy to use, a few tips and tricks can help you to speed up your projects. Here are the top 10 (most of them applicable to Book projects but valid for Comic situations too): 1) Project name: Avoid long names for your projects and, DO NOT use characters like <> %,#;!. They conflict with XML convention. Keep naming simple! 2) Layer names: Before starting to add buttons and animations, follow the rules below. It is much easier to add interactivity with the final names than edit all of them after. Basic…

Thank you and what’s next?

First of all I would like to thank you all for the downloads, re-tweets, Twitter followers and Facebook fans. More than that, thanks a lot to everyone who are using and providing feedback, finding bugs (yes, we found and fixed some), and promoting Kwik in its 7 days of life. You are amazing! Since the launch a week ago, I have received emails and tweets that are blowing my mind. One of my favorites was “After watching the tutorials and playing for 30 minutes, I bought Kwik”. I honestly believe the Photoshop+Kwik+Corona will change the way mobile apps have been done. However, I thought people would need more than “30min”…

Why the world needs Kwik?

First of all, welcome to Kwiksher (the site) blog. I am very happy to have you all here, and I sincerely hope Kwik (the product) will bring new opportunities to millions of Photoshop users around the world. For this first post, I thought it would be nice to share with you a brief story. Since beginning of 2010 I am a happy Corona user. I was able to learn a bit of LUA, publish a few apps, and got in touch with several amazing developers, who spent time helping designers like me to enter into the mobile application world. Being a designer myself,  I tried to speed up my development…
