Kwiksher in Tokyo is ready for operation

I am happy to announce the shop page is reopened. Kutt, Kaboom and Kwik are back on sale. The prices are same as before and Kwik continues the perpetual license scheme. This applies to Kwik3. I might change it for Kwik4 but Kwik4 does not exist yet, I will start Kwik4 development soon. Looking back for the last three months, it was started with Alex’ decision in the summer to leave Kwiksher to a new owner. I took the opportunity and it took me to transfer Kwiksher operation here for 3 months. I learned a lot about WordPress, eCommerse operation with Payapl and so on. I tell you that Alex…

Kwiksher under new management. Last days to purchase Kwik in 2014!

Starting today, Kwiksher is under new management. Today, September 2, 2014, Naoya Yamamoto has acquired Kwiksher from Alex Souza. With customers around the world, Kwiksher was founded in 2011 and was based in Coral Springs, FL. Under the new management, the operation will be transferred to Tokyo, Japan. Yamamoto started his carrier as a software engineer at Fujitsu and since then has worked in several projects for companies including Hi Corp, Catalystmobile Inc and Neos Corp. He co-authored a Japanese Corona SDK book in 2012, which includes lots of information about Kwik. “I am very excited to build up the legacy Alex has left with his vision and hard work with Kwik,…

Alex’s Farewell

This is my last posting as owner of Kwiksher. It is also the most difficult post I have ever written. As you have heard in this week announcement, Kwiksher has been acquired by Naoya Yamamoto, a developer and long time Kwik user from Japan. However, I could not leave the company I created and spent the best days of my career in the past 3 years or so, without sharing a few words with you, who became, more than customers, good friends. When I created Kwik, I set a mission to change the way people create and experience stories in digital media. Hundreds of non-technical people were able to share their…

Artist Spotlight – Jones Brothers

This month I had the pleasure to interview the Don, from the Jones Brothers. They are nice guys, working constantly with Kwik (they have created already six apps, with more coming this year) and willing to share their knowledge with others. Check for their apps in our Showcase. I am looking forward to check their new adventures, as I am a big fan of their design style. Kwiksher’s questions are in bold, to facilitate the reading. Feel free to send more questions to them, via comments below. I am sure they will appreciate. Enjoy! Tell us a little bit about you. Where are you based, for how long are you writing and illustrating…

Will iOS8 Be A Game Changer?

More and more we see the news about the upcoming iOS8. Magazines and bloggers are excited about its new features and curious to discover what developers will do with the new APIs. Add to that the arrival of a new iPhone (here we go again with different screen sizes/ratios) and we are going to have topics to chat for a while. It is not my intention to discuss the beta features, although I am very interest to check Continuity for sure. I will not discuss either the new APIs, after all Corona hasn’t provided any word on what will be added to their arsenal or not. So, you may be asking: “what is this posting…

Creating a Campfire

This tutorial is from Greg Pugh, owner of www.GPAnimations.com.   Kaboom is a powerful plugin that allows you to create particle emitters inside of your Kwik project without code. Today, you’ll build a campfire scene with fire and smoke. First, download the source files: Kaboom_Campfire_START and unzip them to your Desktop. Then open up the Kwik project you just downloaded and you’ll see a background image. Using the Eclipse Tool, draw an oval above the fire wood, which will create a new layer. Rename this layer “fire“. In the Kwik panel, navigate to Layers and Replacements > Particles replacement. Click “Edit Particles” to create a new particle replacement. Change the color to Orange…

Introducing Kaboom. Particle Creation for Kwik.

Few weeks ago I announced the Particle Replacement feature, compatible with the great Particle Design 2 (PD2) tool. With the announcement, several people sent me emails telling they were not on a Mac, they did not need all the options from PD2 or they simply needed a way to edit/create particles from inside Kwik. So, I went back to the drawing board and decided to create something different. Introducing Kaboom, the first plugin for Kwik Kaboom is a particle creator/editor plugin, specifically designed for use with Kwik. It is compatible with JSON encoded format, meaning you will be able to edit particles created with PD2, for example. Kaboom requires Corona build 2014.2214 or up…

Artist Spotlight – Jason Acebron

I would like to introduce Jason Acebron, author of StoneVsCaveman, an addictive game, entirely made with Kwik and already showcased here. Kwiksher’s questions are in bold, to facilitate the reading. Feel free to send more questions to Jason via comments below. I am sure he will appreciate. Enjoy! Tell us a little bit about you. Where are you based, for how long are you creating games – in sum, what is your “story”? I am based in California. Creating games has always been on my mind. Just never had the time to learn the development side of it. Ever since Kwik was born and stated no developer knowledge was needed. Well that saying…
