Happy Holidays and All the Best in 2013

With the year ending, I would like to spend a moment to thank all the supporters we have around the world. Kwik has been used all across the globe (US represents 46% of the paid users), with the quality of the applications getting better and better all the time. Your passion about the product and support buying, promoting and creating apps is something that stills amaze me. From time to time I find myself thinking about the first prototype, back in March of 2011, and cannot believe how much better, faster and powerful Kwik 2 is. Your input and dedication helped a lot in this journey. I am really grateful…

News options for Kwik users: Welcome Animo!

I am very happy to announce that Lanica’s Animo (previously known as SpriteLoq), Flash sprite sheet exporter, is now compatible with Kwik 2! Animo is a powerful tool for users willing to create professional sprite sheets from Flash. Since version 1.0.2 it offers an option to target Kwik 2 projects. After exported from Animo, your sprite sheet PNG and Lua files can be imported into Kwik’s Sprite Sheet Replacement window: Greg Pugh created a nice tutorial on how to integrate your Flash sheets, exported with Animo, with Kwik (originally here: http://gpanimationsblog.com/2012/12/11/tutorial-importing-flash-animations-into-kwik-2/):   To celebrate the integration with Kwik, Lanica has a special deal for our users (check below). Welcome to…

Kwik 2.1 Update

Kwik 2.1 is already available for download, bringing lots of new requested features. In fact, several users are already taking advantage of them and their benefits. For some examples, check the new tutorials: New Dragging with Flip, and New Magnetic Drop. To celebrate the release, we are proud to announce a promotion with Code and Web: until December 3rd you can purchase their TexturePacker+PhysicsEditor Bundle with 20% discount. A real good deal considering how amazing both applications are. Don’t wait anymore, go to http://sites.fastspring.com/codeandweb/product/all, select the TexturePackerPro + PhysicsEditor Bundle (original value of $39.95), enter this promo code KWIK-TEXTUREPACKER-BUNDLE and see your discount applied in your cart! So, what is…

Kwik 2—The Best Way to Create Mobile Apps from Photoshop!

A few weeks after the launch of Kwik 2, our Photoshop plug-in that allows graphic designers, illustrators and well, anyone really to create rich interactive storybook apps in Photoshop for iOS and Android without knowing code, I would like to thank all users for their feedback, purchases, and even complaints about some annoying bugs we found (fortunately, all reported ones are fixed). Your voice is helping to shape Kwik, and I appreciate that. Build 2.0 is pretty stable now. I am confident we are going to see many new Kwik 2 made apps showing up in major stores. I have seen some of them, and I have to…

Registering Kwik 2

Some people have reported they are having issues during the registration process (basically they enter the email and activation key, click the Validate button and nothing happens). In order to make things more transparent, I have updated the code (build 2.0.7) to show an alert if this situation occurs. What I have found is it seems to be related to country/area firewall, blocking the connection with Kwiksher’s website. How to solve this? If you are facing this issue and, after a few tentatives, cannot complete your registration process, follow the instructions in the new Registration tab (more on that on the update Settings documentation): Step 1: Send me the number…

What a week! Kwik 2 is launched!

The past days were pretty crazy here at Kwiksher. As many of you know, I decided to leave my 11 years old full-time job at Microsoft, to dedicate my entire time to Kwiksher, Kwik, and other ideas I have in my mind at this moment. So, last Friday was my last day at Microsoft, which I will miss for sure. “Oooops, shouldn’t you talk about Kwik?” Yes, of course! 🙂 The intro was just to share last week’s craziness, having to work full time at MS, finishing all Kwik 2 bits, polishing the website, working with a video editor guy in Latvia till last night and making easier the purchase/activation…

Announcement: Partnership with Digital Storytime!

Today I am very happy to announce our partnership with Digital Storytime, probably the largest and best children’s storybook reviewers website. With the quality of Kwik made storybooks improving every day, it is important to have a place where parents can get trusted reviews before purchasing book apps to their children. Digital Storytime has provided top quality reviews for more than 500 storybooks, becoming naturally the first place where authors and consumers go before buying or planning new apps. Now, Kwik users will be able to speed up their storybooks’ ratings and/or having a full review, paying less than non-Kwik authors. For full information on how the services work, please check http://digital-storytime.com/reviewRequest.php#1…

Migrating from Kwik 1

With the upcoming release of Kwik 2 on September 18th, you may be asking how compatible is the new plugin with the current one. This post tries to clarify some anxieties 🙂 As I briefly mentioned in a previous post, Kwik 2 brings several new features that are not compatible with Kwik (you cannot create a project in Kwik 2 and expect to import/work it back in Kwik 1). Also, due its focus on full apps (not comics), some features available in Kwik are not available in Kwik 2. Let’s talk about what is NOT available in Kwik 2: Comics: some of you already know that Kwik 1 can create…
