New Project – Video instruction
When the New Project button is clicked, the follow window will show up:
For the project Name, follow the “Before you start” instructions, avoiding names with spaces and characters different that the A-Z, 0-9 range. Do not name projects starting with numbers also.
For the Device, if you are targeting one specific device in the list, simply select it. If you plan to publish your project in several stores (besides the Apple’s AppStore), recommendation is to select Universal (which will create projects with maximum resolution of 1024×768) or New Universal (which creates maximum resolution of 2048×1536). Doing so, 3 sets of images will be created for each layer (the largest for the Retina display, the @2 for the iPad 2 and @4 for the smallest device). If you plan to work only with iPads (both Retina and non-Retina), select New iPad.
Notice that smaller devices may have different screen ratios. To set what kind of scale for the images in smaller devices, use the Project Properties window. More information about Universal projects can be found in the Before you start session.
Orientation sets the project to Portrait or Landscape mode.
Project template allow you to select a previous project that will be used as content for this new project. This is a good option when you want to port a project to a different platform or have a similar app that can be speed up with a previous content.
Edit project properties upon creation automatically opens the Project Properties window after the project folder is created.
