Interview with Nick Nebelsky

This week we chat with Nick, from Intense Media, the second published author using Kwik. Nick is behind the Opening Rome app, available at AppStore: Tell a little bit about you and your company: I created Intense Media as a way of incorporating all of my talents under one roof, if you will. It’s a place where I can use my design skills, love for photography, cartooning, animation, and publishing to create products that are useful, entertaining, and engaging. Since childhood, I knew that I would own a company where I could create. And I have owned other creative and successful publishing companies in the past. In 2009, I…

Timers, Widgets and launch date

This post closes the review on version 1.5, which will be launched on August, 10th. At this moment, a few users are beta testing the updated plugin. The day of the launch will be also the day introductory price ends. If you haven’t bought Kwik yet, it is time now to get it with the current price. Last June (less than 2 months ago) we surveyed 50 people about the features they expected most in future releases: We are proud to report that we delivered some of them with old updates (more actions per button, better demos and auto handling of layer names). Version 1.5 however is an answer to…

Interview with JADonnelly

This week we interview Jad, from MadlyMedia, the author of the first publish Kwik application: Nature in Harmony, available at AppStore and Android Marketplace. Tell a little bit about you and your company: I come from the television, radio, and pod-casting world. Just a year and half ago, I entered the world of developing apps as I for-see the platform of apps and app development as the next television. What is Nature in Harmony about? Nature in Harmony melds music, and natural backgrounds together with animated scenes for relaxation, meditation, and peaceful escapes. How Kwik helped you to build it? Kwik was a key element, along with Ansca Corona, in…

Kwik is included in Corona bits

With today’s announcement of the new Corona SDK version, we would like to congratulate Ansca’s team for the great milestone. Although most features of the updated version of Corona are more focused to game developers (multiplayer, ads, cloud services, etc), some small ones are very applicable to Kwik, like the ability to preview iOS projects on the Windows Simulator. However, for us at Kwiksher, the most important feature of this new version is not into the bits, but in a folder called Tools. Yes, Kwik is included in the official installer from Ansca! Being small and young company, we are very proud to be one of the three companies invited…

Update on version 1.5

With version 1.5 almost done (yes, we are working till late hours every day, including weekends), I would like to update you on what is coming, and when. Well, let’s start with the when. Our expectation is to deliver beta bits to a few customers next weekend. The moment they receive it, we are going to start to write the first Kwik Manual. This little baby is growing faster than we expected and we cannot keep using just the tutorial videos as the only learning tool anymore. With the bits being tested, we are going to send the newsletter, and end the introductory price – meaning you still have this…

Interview with Camille DeBose

Starting this month, every time an app made with Kwik is published, we will invite the author to share his/her experience with other Kwik users. This week we chat with Camille DeBose, author of the beautiful Butterfly Counting, available at Apple’s AppStore: Tell us a little bit about you and your company: I’m actually less of a CEO and more of an academic.  Several years ago I started to focus my research on media and the self, especially as it relates to children.  As a practicing sociologist I decided to found a media company with a focus on entertainment and enrichment for children and teens of color.  Mens Formosus…

What’s next?

You may have already download or read about it (newsletter went out few hours ago). Version 1.4 is already live and brings a few (but important) updates. Fact is we would love to add more “stuff” there but, due the current interface limitation, we simply couldn’t. However, the new button system prepares the way for new kinds of interactions, you will see in version 1.5. Below, a quick glimpse of the new interface: Although we are not disclosing any new feature yet, you can see that it less cluttered, with features categorized. This approach (we hope) will enable us to add more resources, simplifying the way you access them. Besides…

Few tricks in animations

If you follow my personal blog ( – Twitter: @alexandres), you probably have read already I am working on a personal illustrated book for children, called Candice (see the characters studies and the overall story plot at the blog). My intention is to share a few tricks here, while building my book project (when published, I will share also part of the files). Let’s see the final result first: Final animation   The Photoshop file is pretty simple, containing only 3 layers (sky, witch and Candice – the title)….
