Introducing Kwik 3!

Today we just released the first public build of Kwik 3 (simply Kwik from now on). It took more time than expected but I strongly believe the new features and improvements will help the creation of even better applications. What’s new? The amount of new features is enormous, as already reported in several tutorials, postings and the new user guide, reason why I will not spend time talking about them here again. The most important thing to understand is the fact you will be more productive and your apps will have more resources when they need. It is important to remember that old projects (made with Kwik 2 or beta4) will…

Move Your Startup to Austin Contest

You probably have seen the tweets and/or the Facebook postings about me traveling Austin this week. As some have asked about the competition, here go my answers. For the second year, Capital Factory is promoting the Move Your Startup to Austin contest. As a big investor/incubator, they video interviewed more than 100 companies and selected 5 (Kwiksher included) to travel to Austin and, on the stage, pitch their products. The winner gets a big prize that includes money, mentoring and all support to transfer the company from its original origin to Austin. Pretty cool, right? The event happens in one of the largest conferences in the US: SXSW (South by SouthWest) and…

Why I agreed to partner with Alex to critique stories for Kwik users and what to expect from a story critique?

With the introduction of our new  Storyline Review service, find out why Anna Hines partnered with us to critique stories. The text below was written by her. My life’s work has been about creating stories for kids. As soon as the possibility of putting stories into apps came up, with some PhotoShop and Painter experience, and a tiny bit of html from years of maintaining my webpage, I jumped in to give it a try. When I first started looking at the story apps that were coming out (late 2010) I found most to be very disappointing. I found a few really nice apps based on already published books such as,…

Is my story good enough?

Introducing Storyline Review Services Most Kwik users are publishing stories for the first time. Their amazing excitement sometimes goes down when a reviewer says "the story is confuse" or "illustrations are gorgeous but story not much". To avoid (real) situations like that, we are offering a new service called Storyline Review. We have partnered with experienced, many times published, author and illustrator, Anna Hines, a long time Kwik user, to provide a detailed critique on how to improve your story, BEFORE starting to create your storybook app (with Kwik or with any other product or vendor). Save your time, money and frustration! Feel free to check Anna's thoughts on this service. I strongly...

Publishing your storybook app with Kwiksher

Introducing Kwiksher’s Publishing Service For many people the tasks of working with the different app stores, creating certificates, and marketing storybook apps are daunting and a hurdle for publishing. Some don’t have (or want) to spend money with membership fees, others don’t have a Mac to publish to Apple’s App Store. A great number of them don’t even plan to launch new stories. To support future authors on a budget or those ones willing to spend time and money only in the story and design part, we are pleasure to announce that Kwiksher will offer publishing services to selected stories, based on these criteria: Global appeal; Educational content; Originality; Check…

Tabita Valsecchi is the winner of our “Design the New Welcome Screen Contest“, and it is my pleasure to have her sharing a bit of her experience with us. Kwiksher’s questions are in bold, to facilitate the reading. Feel free to send more questions to Tabita via comments below. I am sure she will appreciate. Enjoy! Tell us a little bit about you. Where are you based, for how long are you writing and illustrating – in sum, what is your “story”? I live in Italy and art has always been part of me.  I draw since I was child. I graduate as a teacher of Art Institute of Applied Art,…

Artist Spotlight – François Walter

I would like to introduce François Walter, from MoobleGum, already known by many of you for being the winner of our App of the Month award last August, for his Kids Song Planet app. His apps Lullaby Planet and Animal Sound Box were at the top charts in iTunes Kids category for weeks and he will share some of his learnings from that experience. Kwiksher’s questions are in bold, to facilitate the reading. Feel free to send more questions to François via comments below. I am sure he will appreciate. Enjoy! Tell us a little bit about you. Where are you based, for how long are you writing and illustration –…
